Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is a AGACNP?

An adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) is a specialized provider who cares for ages 11+ with acute, critical, and complex chronic illnesses or injury. Scope of practice only excludes children before the age of puberty and management of pregnancy.

The Jason Keable AGACNP-BC is highly trained in multiple specialties including internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology, nephrology, neurology, urology, otolaryngology, emergency, and critical care medicine, etc. While they practice primarily in the hospital, scope of practice also covers the primary and secondary care settings.

Does Jason Keable have to work under a doctor?

No. According to the State of Arizona, a medical provider with the AGACNP-BC credential can practice independently of any physician oversight in the primary care, secondary care, and hospital settings. Jason Keable can also prescribe all medications including controlled substances as well as dispense and administer medications / pharmaceutical grade supplements at Verde Valley Concierge Medicine.

Will Jason Keable be able to oversee my care at the local hospital?

The local hospital currently has the policy that they do not allow nurse practitioners to gain privileges without a supervising physician that works at the hospital. However, he will do everything he can to keep you from needing inpatient care and advocate for you if you are admitted.
